Demonstrating its commitment to giving back to the communities in which it serves, The Coca-Cola Company Middle East has completed the fourth and final edition of Volunteer Emirates. On Saturday 16 December, 100 volunteers came together to deliver essential educational requirements to Radiant School in Sharjah and enrich the school’s learning environment for both students and staff. Over the course of the day, staff from Coca-Cola helped out with a variety of tasks including drawing educational murals, assembling student desks and chairs, landscaping, cataloguing library books and building a stage for the girls’ assembly area.

Speaking at Saturday’s initiative, Omar Bennis, Director of Public Affairs and Communications, said: “We are committed to improving the communities in which we operate and are proud to partner with Dubai Cares in its efforts with the Volunteer Emirates initiatives. During the last four editions, it has been fantastic to see the contribution that our staff has made in renovating schools across the Emirates and improving the educational environment for children in the community, particularly as it is the Year of Giving.”

Throughout 2017 volunteers from Coco-Cola and Dubai Care gave their time, energy and talents to complete renovations in three different schools across the UAE including Al Manama Private Charity School in Ajman, National Charity School in Al Garhoud and Radiant School in Sharjah.

Majed Yaghi, Senior National Global Director of Coca-Cola who volunteered for the day said: “I came here with a dozen of my colleagues to refurbish this school and give it a fresh look as part of a collaboration with Dubai Cares. Giving back to the community is critical to Coca-Cola and has been for 131 years and we’re delighted to make this contribution to bring some joy and smiles to the students in this school.”

2017 was declared by the UAE’s leadership as the Year of Giving, and Coca-Cola took up the call by partnering with Dubai Cares to be the patron of its 2017 Emirates Volunteer programme, funding all four editions.

Dubai Cares is a philanthropic organization working to improve children's access to quality primary education, launched in 2007 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai.
